Green River, Utah (April 26, 2012- April 28, 2012)

 Our first stop on this day was the Canyonlands National Park. According to Wikipedia, Canyonlands National Park is located in southeastern Utah near the town of Moab and preserves a colorful landscape eroded into countless canyons, mesas and buttes by the Colorado River, the Green River and their respective tributaries. The park is divided into four districts: the Island in the Sky, the Needles, the Maze and the rivers themselves. While these areas share a primitive desert atmosphere, each retains its own character. Two large rivers are carved into the Colorado Plateau by the Colorado River and the Green River.  Author Edward Abbey, a frequent visitor, described the Canyonlands as "the most weird, wonderful, magical place on earth-there is nothing else like it anywhere."

We visited the Island in the Sky District for to explore the entire park would have taken weeks. We may have to come back here and spend more time in this park. 

We spent the morning exploring this park and headed to the Arches National Park shortly after noon.

Arches National Park is located a few miles north of Moab, Utah. It boasts over 2000 natural sandstone arches and is another photographers paradise.

 We all had a great time today. As with most of the National Parks in this part of our wonderful country, the visual impact on one is tremendous. All of us, to include Guinness and Rosco, have been stunned by its beauty.  Never thought our boys would love to sight see, but they do.

Tomorrow we trek to Hurricane, Utah to visit Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks.
